GLORY OF THE PLAINS (ON HORSEBACK), by SARAH DELLA ULMER First Line: The sky is steeped in blue and gold Last Line: You love it ... Same as I! Subject(s): Horseback Riding; Wings | ||||||||
The sky is steeped in blue and gold; The morning raindrops sing; A hawk is riding on a cloud, With jewels on his wing. At length he stirs his wing a wee Upon his lofty tow'r; There comes the flurry of a breeze And presently, a show'r. And, pony, you and I are out To trail the hills togeth'r -- Just you and I to stalk alone The glory of the weath'r. But, then, we love the way the rain Swirls down the rippled sky, To break on goffered, carkled earth -- You love it ... same as I! | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...ESTATE SALE: THE SCRABBLE GAME OF A DEAD WOMAN by NAOMI SHIHAB NYE FREED FROM ANOTHER CONTEXT by ELEANOR WILNER THE BIRD IN THE LAUREL'S SONG by ELEANOR WILNER THE LITERAL = THE ABSTRACT: A DEMONSTRATION by ELEANOR WILNER DESERT FLUTES by SARAH DELLA ULMER |
