YOUTH AND NIGHT, by                     Poet's Biography
First Line: Under the shining stars
Last Line: Of this strange shadowed world.
Subject(s): Beauty; Bodies; Night; Peace; Youth; Bedtime

Under the shining stars
Through depths of ether hurled
We lie upon the meadow-lands
Of this strange shadowed world.

I and my comrades here
In the infinite dim light,
No star as fair as the beauty of
Our bodies bare and white.

The peace of the ancient earth
Upon our being lies,
The vastness of the starry void
Is deep within our eyes.

And through us sweeps the tide
Of stainless, primal joy,
The surging ecstasy that fills
The naked heart of a boy.

Under the shining stars,
Through depths of ether hurled,
We lie upon the meadow-lands
Of this strange shadowed world.
