LULLABY FOR A MAN-CHILD, by JEAN STARR UNTERMEYER Poet Analysis Poet's Biography First Line: The mountains waver through my tears Last Line: Sleep, my son. | ||||||||
The mountains waver through my tears, Hush, my son-- The trees are bending at the knees Like women broken by the years. But you, my child, need have no fears; Only for Woman, love has spears. Sleep, my son. So cuddle closer to my heart. Dream, my son-- 'Tis strange to think that you find peace Here, where all stormy passions start. But you need fear no ache or smart-- The pain is always woman's part. Sleep, my son. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...CLOTHES by JEAN STARR UNTERMEYER MATER IN EXTREMIS by JEAN STARR UNTERMEYER OLD MAN by JEAN STARR UNTERMEYER RESCUE by JEAN STARR UNTERMEYER SELF-REJECTED by JEAN STARR UNTERMEYER THEY SAY - . by JEAN STARR UNTERMEYER TONE PICTURE (MALIPIERO: IMPRESSONI DAL VERO) by JEAN STARR UNTERMEYER AUTUMN by JEAN STARR UNTERMEYER SINFONIA DOMESTICA by JEAN STARR UNTERMEYER THE PASSIONATE SWORD by JEAN STARR UNTERMEYER |
