HALLOWE'EN, by HAZEL VAWN First Line: Upon that night when witch and sprite Last Line: Or watch the witch fires burn. Subject(s): Halloween | ||||||||
Upon that night when witch and sprite Go dancing 'neath the moon, And goblins through the shadows flit In mocking rigadoon, It's close we'll keep our fireside bright, With nuts and cider gay; While leaping flame and merry jest Keep fearsome things away. It's safe beside the fire we'll sit, Nor to the window turn To see strange shadows 'neath the moon, Or watch the witch fires burn. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...IT'S HALLOWEEN by JACK PRELUTSKY THE ERL-KING by JOHANN WOLFGANG VON GOETHE LITTLE ORPHANT ANNIE by JAMES WHITCOMB RILEY THE NINE LITTLE GOBLINS by JAMES WHITCOMB RILEY AN ECLOGUE by ROBERT FERGUSSON SAND FLESH AND SKY by CLARENCE MAJOR THE CHIMNEY SWEEPER, FR.
