DAINTY FOOTSTEPS, by LILLIAN VIGGERS First Line: Her steps fall gently, like snowflakes Last Line: It made her heart a treasure. Subject(s): Love | ||||||||
Her steps fall gently, like snowflakes, As though she is always keeping The quiet hushing lest she wakes Some heavenly angel sleeping. Her feet were anxious to obey To meet the love within her, She served him while in pain he lay, No joy could ever win her. Her tripping thus she sees and hears A melody from every flower Her gentleness still drys the tears That near her pathway shower; Accomplishing angelic tread For love became a pleasure, Though world knows nothing of her dead It made her heart a treasure. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...THE INVENTION OF LOVE by MATTHEA HARVEY TWO VIEWS OF BUSON by ROBERT HASS A LOVE FOR FOUR VOICES: HOMAGE TO FRANZ JOSEPH HAYDN by ANTHONY HECHT AN OFFERING FOR PATRICIA by ANTHONY HECHT LATE AFTERNOON: THE ONSLAUGHT OF LOVE by ANTHONY HECHT A SWEETENING ALL AROUND ME AS IT FALLS by JANE HIRSHFIELD BUILDING TODAY by LILLIAN VIGGERS |
