AT MEMORY'S CASEMENT, by THOMAS WALSH First Line: Upon the blossom branch in spring Last Line: At memory's casement sings alone. Alternate Author Name(s): Gill, Roderick; Strange, Garrett Subject(s): Birds; Memory | ||||||||
UPON the blossom branch in spring There once would come a bird and sing; There once would sound a mellow song Around my heart the whole night long. Nor ever lark at break of day But took me on its silvery way; Nor nightingale by star and rose But at my heart outpoured its woes. Till now, their voices hushed in tears, With springtime passed adown the years, My heart which hath their message known At Memory's casement sings alone. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...MEMORY AS A HEARING AID by TONY HOAGLAND THE SAME QUESTION by JOHN HOLLANDER FORGET HOW TO REMEMBER HOW TO FORGET by JOHN HOLLANDER ON THAT SIDE by LAWRENCE JOSEPH MEMORY OF A PORCH by DONALD JUSTICE BEYOND THE HUNTING WOODS by DONALD JUSTICE A BALLAD OF OLD POPE JOHN by THOMAS WALSH |
