SAND DUNES, by EVA WARNER First Line: The winds of chance that picked us up Last Line: Conformant to a chance wind's will. Subject(s): Love - Loss Of; Wind | ||||||||
The winds of chance that picked us up To shape in mobile loveliness A sentient structure on an old shoreline, Have blown againa ruthless breath That whirled away all symmetry. The scattered fragments move capriciously To form anew; reshape again But you are driven beyond recall; No stormy gust or current, sedulous, Can bring you back to me; Bereft of far-swept raison d'etre, I swirl in shifting, aimless shapes, Conformant to a chance wind's will. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...THE THREE CHILDREN by JOSEPHINE JACOBSEN THE WIND by LOUISE MOREY BOWMAN LEAF LITTER ON ROCK FACE by HEATHER MCHUGH RESIDENTIAL AREA by JOSEPHINE MILES THE DAY THE WINDS by JOSEPHINE MILES VARIATIONS: 12 by CONRAD AIKEN OH IT'S PRETTY WINDY OUTSIDE by LARRY EIGNER |
