NEGLECTED LEI, by MILDRED WATSON First Line: Like yellowed ancient ivory the flowers lie Last Line: A haunting fragrance -- and a memory. Subject(s): Leis | ||||||||
Like yellowed ancient ivory the flowers lie Neglected on the pandanus mat where tired hands Have flung the lei that once was white against Dark breasts in pulsing rhythm of the dance. Soft petals open now in final breath To pour their perfume out upon the air And bring to drowsy senses, as a dream, A haunting fragrance -- and a memory. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...MELE HOOIPOIPO by CHARLES W.
