DAWN AT KINLOCH, by LOUIS BRANDEIS WEHLE First Line: In poise on the unfathomable deep Last Line: Unto itself the miracle of day. Subject(s): Dawn; Day; Sunrise | ||||||||
IN POISE on the unfathomable deep, The waning moon upon the marge of night Broods o'er the primal, immemorial sleep Of boundless marsh, all with dim stars bedight, And held in trance as by some timeless thrall. E'en then a taken breath begins to stir, A breath soon merging with the whispering call Of silken wings increasingly a-whir, Of feathered spirits breasting toward the dawn, Of questing life re-born to try its way Past all horizons. Now the light rides on; A myriad blades are brought to bright array Of crystal fire; and the marsh has drawn Unto itself the miracle of day. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...THIS MORNING, GOD by LAURE-ANNE BOSSELAAR BURNING DAWN by HAYDEN CARRUTH DAWN by GEORGIA DOUGLAS JOHNSON IN THE GARDEN AT THE DAWN HOUR by EDGAR LEE MASTERS EARLY RISER by NAOMI SHIHAB NYE WORDS WHEN WE NEED THEM by NAOMI SHIHAB NYE HENRY MOORE'S STATUE AT LINCOLN CENTER by KAREN SWENSON |
