RESURRECTION HYMN, by MICHAEL WEISS First Line: Christ the lord is risen again Last Line: Hallelujah! Subject(s): Easter; Holidays; Jesus Christ; The Resurrection | ||||||||
Christ the Lord is risen again, Christ hath broken every chain; Hark, angelic voices cry, Singing evermore on high, Hallelujah! He who gave for us His life, Who for us endured the strife, Is our Paschal Lamb today. We, too, sing for joy, and say, Hallelujah! He who bore all pain and loss Comfortless upon the cross, Lives in glory now on high, Pleads for us and hears our cry: Hallelujah! He whose path no records tell, Who descended into hell, Who the strong man armed hath bound, Now in the highest heaven is crowned: Hallelujah! He who slumbered in the grave Is exalted now to save; Now through Christendom it rings That the Lamb is King of Kings: Hallelujah! Now He bids us tell abroad How the lost may be restored, How the penitent forgiven, How we too may enter heaven: Hallelujah! Thou, our Paschal Lamb indeed, Christ, Thy ransomed people feed! Take our sins and guilt away, That we all may sing for aye, Hallelujah! | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...EASTER EVE by FRANCIS WILLIAM BOURDILLON EASTER SUNDAY by LUCILLE CLIFTON GOD SEND EASTER by LUCILLE CLIFTON NOT THE CUCKOLD'S DREAM; FOR SAM PEREIRA by NORMAN DUBIE EASTER HYMN by GEORGE SANTAYANA I DEFINE THE DARKNESS CORRECT: THE FESTIVAL OF THE FRERES LUMIERES by ELENI SIKELIANOS SPANISH EASTER: 1926 by CONRAD AIKEN WHEN LOVE GOES by SARA TEASDALE |
