COME, LORD JESUS, by CHARLES WESLEY Poet Analysis Poet's Biography First Line: O jesus! At thy feet we wait Last Line: Forever fill'd with god. Subject(s): Jesus Christ | ||||||||
O Jesus! at Thy feet we wait, Till Thou shalt bid us rise; Restored to our unsinning state-- To love's sweet paradise. Saviour from sin, we Thee receive; From all indwelling sin Thy blood, we steadfastly believe, Shall make us throughly clean. Since Thou wouldst have us free from sin, And pure as those above; Make haste to bring Thy nature in, And perfect us in love. The counsel of Thy love fulfill; Come quickly, gracious Lord! Be it according to Thy will, According to Thy word. O that the perfect grace were given, Thy love diffused abroad: O that our hearts were all a heaven, Forever fill'd with God. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...THE GREEN CHRIST by ANDREW HUDGINS MEDITATION ON SAVIORS by ROBINSON JEFFERS COMPANIONSHIP by MALTBIE DAVENPORT BABCOCK TO A WREN ON CALVARY by LARRY LEVIS THE TRANSFIGURATION by EDWIN MUIR SOUNDS OF THE RESURRECTED DEAD MAN'S FOOTSTEPS (#3): 1.
