ON A JANUARY BEACH, by NORMA R. WETHERED First Line: Sea gulls walking on a january beach Last Line: Serene and solemnic the ocean rolls by. Subject(s): Sea; Ocean | ||||||||
Sea gulls walking on a January beach -- Peculiar strides taking them far from my reach; Away they fly no matter how eyes beseech, To a silvern streak that calls the souls of each. An ocean cold and empty and so forlorn -- Yet whose silent sides have been lashed -- have been torn -- So ageless it flows on a tide of peace bourne -- But as you look you find all resentment -- gone. Smoothly cool it fascinates your searching eye -- Unleashes your thoughts with memory -- with sigh -- Leaden enchantment of the earth of the sky; Serene and solemnic the ocean rolls by. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...HALL OF OCEAN LIFE by JOHN HOLLANDER JULY FOURTH BY THE OCEAN by ROBINSON JEFFERS BOATS IN A FOG by ROBINSON JEFFERS CONTINENT'S END by ROBINSON JEFFERS THE FIGUREHEAD by LEONIE ADAMS OF LONELINESS by NORMA R.
