SINGING WITH SPRING, by JEAN WHITE First Line: Today I matched my heart with spring Last Line: "let us match our hearts together!" Subject(s): Flowers; Happiness; Seasons; Singing & Singers; Spring; Joy; Delight | ||||||||
Today I matched my heart with Spring We sang together, I, in a faint song That only a soul could hear; Spring sang in showers and A rainbow hung with dew. She tossed wild flowers In my wake, And waved the grasses At my feet; And the birds in the sky Cried to the bees that spun Across the sun; And a tree-lulled tune caught my ear, And I could hear: "Hearken!" sang the breeze-song, "Snows melt from the mountains ... Rivers plunge with the dying storm, I cannot leave off singing. My heart thrills with its song. Mine is the song of a season! Spring! Spring! Spring! Spring at last is come!" My heart is glad today; The meadows ring with joy, And say "Skies, clear and blue, Are calling back to you, You dreamers and lovers! Awaken and come! Come, come, come! Sing with Spring! Let us match our hearts together!" | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...THE STUDY OF HAPPINESS by KENNETH KOCH SO MUCH HAPPINESS by NAOMI SHIHAB NYE CROWD CONDITIONS by JOHN ASHBERY I WILL NOT BE CLAIMED by MARVIN BELL THE BOOK OF THE DEAD MAN (#21): 1.
