LAKE MOODS, by NELLIE HURLBURT WHITNEY First Line: I think the way I like you best Last Line: And kiss their lips with whispers and moans. Subject(s): Lakes; Pools; Ponds | |||
I think the way I like you best Is when you wear upon your breast The mirrored likenesses of trees And little fingers of the breeze; Or let the silver birch look down And gaze upon its lovely gown, Trimmed by you with ruffles of blue And specks of sunbeams woven through. Though, when the sun is sinking low And clouds are clothed in afterglow Burning in beauty, fold on fold And you become a sea of gold That dreads the heavy hand of night Jealously grasping jeweled light -- For then, you seek the solace of stones And kiss their lips with whispers and moans. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...A MAN GETS OFF WORK EARLY by THOMAS LUX THE FRIARY AT BLOSSOM, PROLOGUE & INSTRUCTIONS by NORMAN DUBIE SONGS FOR TWO SEASONS: 2.
