LONELY HARBOR, by HELEN EVELYN WILLIAMS First Line: We used to walk the wave-washed shore Last Line: Is always there for me! Subject(s): Harbors; Sea; Waves; Ocean | ||||||||
We used to walk the wave-washed shore Together, you and I, To watch the silver clouds that seemed Like sailboats in the sky; We looked far down a beach of gold To where each city spire A shaft of black was painted on A canopy of fire. Then suddenly one day I found That you had gone away And left behind the white-capped waves To sweep an angry bay; Now as I walk alone toward town Beside a sullen sea, A lonely harbor I will find Is always there for me! | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...HALL OF OCEAN LIFE by JOHN HOLLANDER JULY FOURTH BY THE OCEAN by ROBINSON JEFFERS BOATS IN A FOG by ROBINSON JEFFERS CONTINENT'S END by ROBINSON JEFFERS |
