PRAYER FOR DISARMAMENT, by NETTIE BLANCHE WOOD First Line: Again they make a pilgrimage for peace Last Line: "and whispers: ""peace on earth, good will to men." Subject(s): Disarmament; Prayer | ||||||||
Again they make a pilgrimage for peace -- Those who have known and felt the pangs of strife -- Hoping to outlaw Mars, war plans to cease, And place a worth-while price on human life. As Wise Men came two thousand years before To see the Christ Child laid in Bethlehem's stall, And angel's voice turned them from Herod's door, Making all nations know, "Good Will To All"; So now, we pray that selfsame voice to guide These men, that ancient joy be known again. For God lives on, is ever by our side, And whispers: "Peace on Earth, Good Will to Men." | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...UNHOLY SONNET 11 by MARK JARMAN LISTEN, LORD: A PRAYER by JAMES WELDON JOHNSON A PRAYER FOR THE FUTURE by GEORGE BARLOW (1847-1913) DIFFERENT WAYS TO PRAY by NAOMI SHIHAB NYE PRAYER DURING A TIME MY SON IS HAVING SEIZURES by SHARON OLDS WE WHO PRAYED AND WEPT by WENDELL BERRY PRAYERS AND SAYINGS OF THE MAD FARMER by WENDELL BERRY THE PROGRESS OF POESY; A PINDARIC ODE by THOMAS GRAY THE GRANDMOTHER'S APOLOGY by ALFRED TENNYSON VERSES TO THE MEMORY OF P.
