DESERT STORM, by LORIS PICKARD WOOLERY First Line: Dark clouds boil up to fill the sky Last Line: Of deafening sound -- the aftermath. Subject(s): Deserts; Food & Eating; Storms | ||||||||
Dark clouds boil up to fill the sky; The sun is hid -- strong winds come too. Sharp sands sting so you want to cry; Then come the raindrops -- just a few. Across the sky, from clouds to earth, A streak of lightning burns a path; No sound is heard, all wait the birth Of deafening sound -- the aftermath. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...STORM AT HOPTIME by EDMUND CHARLES BLUNDEN THERE IS A SOLEMN WIND TONIGHT by KATHERINE MANSFIELD DEWEY AND DANCER by JOSEPHINE MILES MICHAEL IS AFRAID OF THE STORM by GWENDOLYN BROOKS BREACHING THE ROCK by MADELINE DEFREES THE CLOUDS ABOVE THE OCEAN by STEPHEN DOBYNS OF POLITICS, & ART by NORMAN DUBIE TREMENDOUS WIND AND RAIN by ANSELM HOLLO SUNDAY NIGHT by LOUIS UNTERMEYER |
