LOVELY NIGHT, by RUBY MARION WRAY First Line: Oh night, thy silver stars bewitch me Last Line: And love answers love, from love's own eyes. Subject(s): Love; Night; Bedtime | ||||||||
Oh night, thy silver stars bewitch me; Oh moon, I love thy tantilizing charm And the soft warm breezes so inviting, -- Oh lovely night, so serene, so clam. Oh lovely night, when I forget all else And life is given just to love, it seems, For on such nights I live as in a trance; Such nights, I know, were made for love and dreams. Oh lovely night that haunts my waking hours And fills me with delight at thought of thee. Oh lovely night, beneath thy starry bowers I'll walk with love, and love will walk with me. And the glimpse of heaven that we seeketh, Oh lovely night, we'll find beneath thy skies Where love shines forth in purity and sweetness And love answers love, from love's own eyes. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...THE BREATH OF NIGHT by RANDALL JARRELL HOODED NIGHT by ROBINSON JEFFERS NIGHT WITHOUT SLEEP by ROBINSON JEFFERS WORKING OUTSIDE AT NIGHT by DENIS JOHNSON POEM TO TAKE BACK THE NIGHT by JUNE JORDAN COOL DARK ODE by DONALD JUSTICE POEM TO BE READ AT 3 A.M by DONALD JUSTICE ROUND ABOUT MIDNIGHT by BOB KAUFMAN THAT I COULD KNOW by RUBY MARION WRAY |
