SLEEP TIME, by ANNETTE WYNNE First Line: When day is over, mother sings songs Last Line: And he doesn't even hear mother putting out the light. Subject(s): April; Babies; Mothers; Sleep; Infants | ||||||||
WHEN day is over, Mother sings songs And each child climbs into the crib where he belongs, And says his prayers, and thinks of things he did all day, Whether at school or home or on the street at play. But he never quite gets through for his eyes shut tight And he doesn't even hear Mother putting out the light. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...A POET TO HIS BABY SON by JAMES WELDON JOHNSON BABYHOOD by ELIZABETH AKERS ALLEN INFANCY by EDMUND JOHN ARMSTRONG BALLAD OF THE LAYETTE by WAYNE KOESTENBAUM A TOAST FOR LITTLE IRON MIKE by PAUL MARIANI THE PAMPERING OF LEORA by THYLIAS MOSS ONE FOR ALL NEWBORNS by THYLIAS MOSS IN THE THRIVING SEASON by LISEL MUELLER CHRISTOPHER COLUMBUS by ANNETTE WYNNE |
