NO WORDS CAN REACH, by ELEANOR G. R. YOUNG First Line: Today, the world is gay with jewel trees Last Line: It climbs a height that words can never reach! Subject(s): Beauty | ||||||||
Today, the world is gay with jewel trees. Each tiny twig is decked in crystal light. A fairy palace hems me brightly in A world of hushed and glittering delight. In the long beds that wait the call of spring. Dry flower-stems are changed to diamond bars; And where the lily-pond waits silently, Blue spruce trees glisten with a million stars. Colder the day grows as the wind tears by; A late sun pushes through the sky's gray wall; The world glows into rosy, sparkling light, A fairy hush is hovering over all. Out from some hidden nook, a redbird's wing, Streaks swift, warm color on the western sky Beauty is glittering on everything, Oh, lovely, lacy world, I will not try To put your icy loveliness in speech. It climbs a height that words can never reach! | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...VARIATIONS: 14 by CONRAD AIKEN DIVINELY SUPERFLUOUS BEAUTY by ROBINSON JEFFERS THE BEAUTY OF THINGS by ROBINSON JEFFERS HOPE IS NOT FOR THE WISE by ROBINSON JEFFERS LIFE FROM THE LIFELESS by ROBINSON JEFFERS REARMAMENT by ROBINSON JEFFERS SHANE ONEILLS CAIRN by ROBINSON JEFFERS A YOUNG CHIEF RETURNS by ELEANOR G.
