The old porch cries beneath its shabby paint; "Now is the time to bring your winter blankets to the light. Look well at minesee how they wrap my weatherbeaten posts In dazzling, perfumed white: A million starry flowers were used to weave them so That they would still cling close should Fall winds blow; And all the sweetness of the Summer flowers Is gathered in their thick, caressing bowers: I know no other fragrance quite like this Elusive sweetness of white clematis." | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...FROM PRADO ROTUNDA: THE FAMILY OF CHARLES IV, AND OTHERS by ALICIA SUSKIN OSTRIKER THE STUDIO (HOMAGE TO ALICE NEEL) by ALICIA SUSKIN OSTRIKER JOE BRAINARD'S PAINTING 'BINGO' by RON PADGETT THE PICTURE (VENUS RECLINING) by EZRA POUND HER EYES by EDWIN ARLINGTON ROBINSON PAINTED FISHES by CARL SANDBURG A YOUNG CHIEF RETURNS by ELEANOR G.
