A TRIBUTE TO THE FEDERATION, by MRS. D. H. ZIMMERMAN First Line: Let us consider some of the things Last Line: Are fostering throughout the nation. Subject(s): Clubs (associations) | ||||||||
Let us consider some of the things That Federated club work brings! Method and system and precision, A wider outlook, a clearer vision; Exactitude and care for details, Impartial Judgment that rarely fails. A broader outlook upon life, Co-operation without strife; Inspiration and atmosphere, Self-expression without fear; The urge to create, To discuss, to debate; Tolerance and sympathy, Broad-mindedness and Charity. A tendency to nourish And help all talent to flourish; The will to encourage expression, To combat and discourage repression, To be ourselves, without fear or favor; When we've made a decision, not to waver. To rise above petty differences, For once and for all, to be free of these; This is the campaign that we plan, This is our duty to God and Man; To live in an atmosphere rarefied, Purified and clarified, Where thought reigns King, And blossoming, Brings forth, as from a cocoon, Fruit that is worthy of the loom. Other and varied activities, All on the same high plane as these, The State and General Federation Are fostering throughout the nation. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...THE JUDGMENT OF PARIS by GEORGE SANTAYANA OUR CLUB by SYLVIA DILLAVOU BARCLAY THE BOHEMIANS OF BOSTON AND THEIR WAYS; A MEMORY OF THE JACOBEAN CRAZE by FRANK GELETT BURGESS THE BOROUGH: LETTER 10.
