THE FRESHMAN'S VOCATION, by ANONYMOUS First Line: He had fished in the aroostook Last Line: In an envelope and sent them home by mail Subject(s): Fish & Fishing | ||||||||
HE had fished in the Aroostook, And he'd trolled in the Walloostook, And he'd angled in the Mattawamkeag, He had hunted Lake Umbagog, And spent weeks on Memphremagog, For he'd sworn to bring the fish home by the bag. All too soon the summer ended, And his homeward way he wended, And he left his tent within the shady vale; But before the reached New Lyddom, He took all his fish and hid 'em In an envelope and sent them home by mail. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...JOURNEY INTO THE EYE by DAVID LEHMAN THE GREAT BLACK HERON by DENISE LEVERTOV ISLA MUJERES by WILLIAM MATTHEWS SCHOOLS OF LITTLE FISH by MARVIN BELL TWO PICTURES OF A LEAF by MARVIN BELL OF FISH AND FISHERMEN by JOHN CIARDI TIS A LITTLE JOURNEY by ANONYMOUS |
