THE GUNPOWDER PLOT, by
First Line: "remember, remember"
Last Line: And a jolly good bonfire to roast him
Subject(s): Gunpowder Plot;mnemonics; Guy Fawkes

Remember, remember
The fifth of November,
The Gunpowder Treason and Plot;
I see no reason why gunpowder treason
Should ever be forgot.
A stick and a stake
For George's sake
So please remember the bonfire.
Fifty barrels lay below
To blow old England's overthrow.
With a dark lantern and a lighted match
That's the way old Guy was catch.
Holler, boys, holler; make the bells ring!
Holler, boys, holler; God save the King!
A rope! a rope! to hang the Pope,
A slice of cheese to choke him,
A gallon of beer to drink his health
And a jolly good bonfire to roast him.
