I would sing of who is daughter of light on whom brightness of kings does rest I would delight in her image's rays her beauty whose garments are flowers sweet odors rise from a king looks out from her eyes will feed those beneath him in truth truth covers her head the tread of her feet brings pleasure she spreads her lips open for beauty sings praise poems 32 singing her praises tongue like a curtain the priest can raise up & enter her neck mounts high like a staircase first builder hung here her hands that were speaking in code led the dance of the aeons fingers that opened the gates to the city whose chamber vibrates with light the odor of sweet leaves & myrrh strewn with branches of myrtle sweet flowers a door decked with reeds stand the seven who guarded the groom whom she chose seven bridesmaids who dance for her praise her twelve more by her count who are servants attend her their gaze toward the bridegroom sighting of whom brings them light of the joy of their entry those who would be at that marriage assemblage of princes long feasting long lives of those given to life wore garments of light splendid raiment would swoon in their joy in praise of father of all take his light down exult in it light of their vision of godlight sweet food now received sweet perfection sweet drink of his wine ends thirst desire bursts into praises o breath o father of truths o mother of knowing Used with the permission of Copper Canyon Press, P.O.
