WINTER SONG, by ANONYMOUS First Line: Winter wakeneth all my care Last Line: Nor how long I here may dwell! Subject(s): Winter | |||
WINTER wakeneth all my care, Now the boughs be waxen bare, Oft I sigh, and mourn full sair When it cometh in my thought How this world's joy doth go to naught! Now it is, and now 't is not, As it ne'er had been, I wot, Many a man this word hath got: "Naught endureth save God's Will --" That we must die doth please us ill. What afore was fresh and green Now doth fade and fail, I ween, Jesu, let Thine Help be seen, Shield us all from Hell -- For where I go I may not know, Nor how long I here may dwell! | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...LOOKING EAST IN THE WINTER by JOHN HOLLANDER WINTER DISTANCES by FANNY HOWE WINTER FORECAST by JOSEPHINE JACOBSEN AT WINTER'S EDGE by JUDY JORDAN CHAMBER MUSIC: 34 by JAMES JOYCE TIS A LITTLE JOURNEY by ANONYMOUS |
