CENTAUR'S BOOTY, by THOMAS STURGE MOORE Poem Explanation Poet's Biography First Line: On one that stands out above a waste of boulders Alternate Author Name(s): Moore, T. Sturge | |||
Beyond the sunset, past the furthest peak, I went and found a ruin by the sea. And there I found a serpent eating up A mermaid, and I fled into the deep. Beyond the sunset, past the saddest song, I found a mountain dell where a wolf lay dead. And there I found a goat come down to drink, And she gave milk and meat and my heart was fed. Beyond the sunset, past the sweetest prayer, I went and found a poppy by a well. And there I lay down and I fell asleep, And I dreamed the dream of heaven and of hell. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest... |
