The blessed story of the Christ, The Babe of Bethlehem, Is worthy of our song and praise, And stirs the hearts of men. The incarnation of this Child, Who came from realms above, Is miracle divinely wrought, And fills our hearts with love. This lowly Child of Bethlehem Is by the world adored. The mortal tongue and heart rejoice, And call Him Prince and Lord. The fullness of God's love divine, Surrounds the Christ so mild; Alas! how many only know The Saviour as a child. Our saving hope is all in vain, If here our love should cease, For in the Man of Galilee, We find the gift of peace. Somehow the Man of Nazareth Constrains our heart and soul To cherish and respect His name; 'Tis He that makes men whole. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...PORTRAIT OF A BABY by STEPHEN VINCENT BENET PROMISE by GEORGIA DOUGLAS JOHNSON TO MARY CHURCH TERRELL - LECTURER by GEORGIA DOUGLAS JOHNSON THE HARD TIMES IN ELFLAND; A STORY OF CHRISTMAS EVE by SIDNEY LANIER ON A TUFT OF GRASS by EMMA LAZARUS SUGGESTED BY THE COVER OF A VOLUME OF KEATS'S POEMS by AMY LOWELL |
