ANGUISH by GRACE CLARK DEGRAFF

First Line: THE GREAT ROUND MOON HANGS IN THE EASTERN SKY
Last Line: AND TEARS COME AS I QUICKLY TURN MY HEAD.

The great round moon hangs in the eastern sky,
A golden lantern lit for lovers true.
They wander hand in hand along the path,
And say again those sweet words, "I love you."

They pause a moment in the shadows there,
Nor care if all the waiting world should see
The gentle tender kiss from willing lips,
The magic of this moment's ecstasy.

And I sit sadly watching from above,
Remembering you and all the things you said,
The touch of your strong hand, your tender ways,
And tears come as I quickly turn my head.
