I walked in the forest at morning, The grass all wet with dew, And the Sun in majestic splendor From the East came smiling through. The birds were twittering love songs Awakened by Nature's call, And stepping softly in reverence I paused to admire it all. I walked in the forest at noontime Away from the heat and the strife, Its cool and refreshing shelter Brought peace and calm to my life. The trees stood like giant sentinels That seemed to challenge my right To walk in this lovely forest At morning, at noon, or night. I walked in the forest at evening As the Sun sank low in the West, And high in the leafy bowers The birds were returning to rest. Soon night with its inky curtain Would cover all land and sea And blot out this lovely forest That God gave to you and to me. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...SEAWEED by HENRY WADSWORTH LONGFELLOW THE LOW-DOWN WHITE by ROBERT WILLIAM SERVICE TO A WOMAN by KENNETH SLADE ALLING ENGLISH COUNTRY (WHERE THREE SHIRES MEET) by WILLIAM BLISS SUPPLICATION by MARGARET H.
