BUT I DON'T KNOW by DELOVA DURNFORD

First Line: WOMEN, THEY SAY, ARE LONELIER THAN MEN
Last Line: OF FRIENDLY TALK, OVER TOO SOON, TOO SOON.
Subject(s): CONVERSATION;

Women, they say, are lonelier than men,
But I don't know ... today I saw again
The same bright hunger in an old man's eyes,
And knobby hands hold fast, as if a prize
Too great for measuring, the simple boon
Of friendly talk, over too soon, too soon.
