Fickle rain! Today it taps upon my window sill A merry tattoo; Tomorrow it will be a gloomy refrain. Today it brightens flowers And drenches all with diamond drops. Tomorrow it will be dismal And leave a drooped decadence when it stops As though even the plants are wearied By the sad, relentless beat That calls to mind A funeral march on dancing feet. Today it brings a smile -- Tomorrow it may breathe of pain; I cannot fathom all the moods Of fickle rain. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...AT THE ZOO IN SPAIN by CLARENCE MAJOR TO THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA by ROBERT SEYMOUR BRIDGES STANZAS FOR MUSIC (3) by GEORGE GORDON BYRON MORNING by PAUL LAURENCE DUNBAR A BED OF FORGET-ME-NOTS by CHRISTINA GEORGINA ROSSETTI A WORKING PARTY by SIEGFRIED SASSOON |
