YOU WERE by CLARA FOX

First Line: YOU WERE WHITE SKY
Last Line: IN A WILD PRAIRIE-HILL BED.
Subject(s): BEDS; POETRY & POETS; SLEEP;

You were white sky.
You brought white pansies,
Who had slept
In a bed well-kept.

But now your sky
Is gray. You come
With crocus petals, shed
In a wild prairie-hill bed.
