PEGASUS AND I by RUTH GLASCOTT

First Line: I WOULD MOUNT PEGASUS
Last Line: BUT PEGASUS FLIES ALONE.
Subject(s): HORSEBACK RIDING;

I would mount Pegasus
And ride and ride and ride
Wildly and madly
High above the world.
I would sing a song there
A song for me—for me.
I would love and laugh there
Laugh to be—to be!
But just as I would harness him
And just as I would mount
The reins are deftly broken
The world steps in between.
I scream and cry and call to him—
But Pegasus flies alone.
