MIRACLES by GERTRUDE B. GUNDERSON

First Line: EACH DAY ONE MEETS A MIRACLE
Last Line: HANG OUT THE EVENING STAR.
Subject(s): FAITH; GOD; MIRACLES; BELIEF; CREED;

Each day one meets a miracle
If he have eyes to see;—
Why, any flaming sunrise
Can bring him ecstasy.

And I, myself, have sometimes heard—
When faith and hope grew dim—
A sudden rush of myriad wings,
A song of seraphim.

And I have found within the heart
Of many a simple flower,
Enough of peace to last throughout
A cruel, bitter hour. ...

When I am all discouragement,—
As mortals often are—
I watch God, in His majesty,
Hang out the evening star.
