LAST WISHES by PEARL FANCOLLY HALLETT

First Line: INFINITE SORROW TO ME IN SLOW DECAY
Last Line: ADVENTURING UP THE ENDLESS HILLS OF TIME.
Subject(s): WISHES;

Infinite sorrow to me in slow decay;
Forgotten ships that rot in quiet coves,
Broken, lonely wharves out in the bay,
Stricken oaks defacing greenest groves.

Tumbled bricks once a household hearth
"Pax Euntibus" engraved on crumbling stones,
Doddering age exciting youthful mirth,
Desert sands with slowly whitening bones.

Give my lifeless body to the flames,
To the winds that heap of ashes gray,
Dust deferring to the cosmic claim
As this my final debt to earth I pay,
While that eternal part of me shall climb
Adventuring up the endless hills of time.
