THE POEMS OF COLD MOUNTAIN: 155 by HAN SHAN

First Line: FOR THE HUNDRED YEARS OF HUMAN LIFE
Last Line: LISTEN TO THE LION'S ROAR
Subject(s): ANGER; BUDDHISM; CHINESE LITERATURE; COMPASSION; BUDDHA; BUDDHISTS;

For the hundred years of human life
the Buddha preached a twelvefold canon
but compassion is like a wild deer
and anger is like the family dog
you can't drive the dog away
the deer meanwhile prefers to run
to tame your monkey mind
listen to the lion's roar
