WORKS AND DAYS: MIGHT AND RIGHT (2) by HESIOD

First Line: O PRINCES, TAKE YE ALSO THOUGHT
Last Line: REQUITE HARSH DOINGS AND DECREES.

O Princes, take ye also thought
Of wrath laid up: the gods are close
To men, and mark how they abuse
Each other with perverse awards,
And hold the wrath of heaven as nought.
For on the bounteous earth doth Zeus
Keep thrice ten thousand spirit guards
To watch o'er mortal men, and these
Invisible in a cloak of mist,
Patrolling earth, where'er they list,
Requite harsh doings and decrees.
