WORKS AND DAYS: NEIGHBOURS AND KINSFOLK by HESIOD

First Line: CALL HIM WHO LOVES YOU TO YOUR FEAST
Last Line: BUT KINSMEN DAWDLE O'ER THEIR GEAR.
Subject(s): FAMILY LIFE; NEIGHBORS; RELATIVES;

CALL him who loves you to your feast;
Leave out a foe. By no means least
Invite a man whose house is near;
For if upon a place comes hurt,
The neighbours hurry out ungirt
But kinsmen dawdle o'er their gear.
