DAWN CHORUS by MARY HOLTBY

First Line: HARK, HARK, THE BARK AS FIDO SPRINGS
Last Line: AND BANG THE PAN THAT FRIES.
Subject(s): DRAMATISTS; POETRY & POETS; SHAKESPEARE, WILLIAM (1564-1616);

Hark, hark, the bark as Fido springs
And at the postman flies!
With well-adjusted teeth he clings,
Extracting frantic cries;
And rattling milkcarts now begin
To crash-land their supplies —
Mayst hear, my love, the merry din,
Then ope unwilling eyes:
Arise, arise!
And bang the pan that fries.
