ROSA MUNDI by WILLIAM BRIAN HOOKER

First Line: IN A GARDEN GLAD AND GREEN
Last Line: MINE THE SINGER'S LIPS AND EYES.

In a garden glad and green
Blooms a rose unknown, unseen,
Ruby-bosomed like a flame,
Holy, like a holy name --
All the world have part and right
In the garden's rich delight:
Each may gather all he knows ...
I alone have known the Rose.

Through a world of waste and wrong
Floats a benison of song,
Pouring on the multitude
All their souls can bear of good;
Giving them who know and care
Beauty, laughter, pain, and prayer --
Each his own realities ...
Mine the Singer's lips and eyes.
