WAITING by JAMES HERVEY HYSLOP

First Line: AGAIN HAVE COME THE EVENING TIDES
Last Line: ALREADY FILLED WITH PAIN AND STRIFE.
Subject(s): HOPE; LIFE; PAIN; WAITING; OPTIMISM; SUFFERING; MISERY;

AGAIN have come the evening tides;
Uncertain hope with me abides.
The happy times that once did flow,
In cheering accents here below,
Are waiting for the voice of fate
To point the way to heaven's gate,
Or mark the shadows of a life
Already filled with pain and strife.
