FLOW AND EBB by IBN SAFAR

First Line: THE RIVER LAPS THE ISLE
Last Line: FASTENS UP HIS WRAP.

The river laps the isle,
And complains the while
Hoping she may respond
To his devotion fond.

Suddenly the breeze
Tears his shirt, and flees;
The stream o'erflows his bank
To avenge the prank.

The doves laugh to see
His obesity;
The stream, shamed by the hap,
Fastens up his wrap.
