ADVENTURE by HARRY C. JANNARY

First Line: THAT SUMMER, AND THAT EVENING! GOLDEN HOUR
Last Line: AS WILD THINGS RUSH INTO THE HIDDEN SNARE.

That summer, and that evening! Golden hour
Brief pause between full day and dusky night
Soft twilight in its waning amber light
Fragrant with fern and honeysuckle flower
White water holding music in its power.
Such music charms me, checks my idle flight
Here I will rest a willing neophyte
For transient shelter raise a greenwood bower.

She must have passed my door by accident
Her footsteps light as bird wings on the air
I found the tender grasses lightly bent
So gently bent, the trail made me despair
Yet I must follow, fearful and intent
As wild things rush into the hidden snare.
