KIN by ADELINE M. JENNEY

First Line: I KNOW THE NAMES OF ALL GREAT STARS
Last Line: TO GO AND JOIN YOU TROOPING BY!
Subject(s): SOLITUDE; LONELINESS;

I know the names of all great stars
That move across the midnight sky,
But I am caged within a house
And may not see them trooping by;

I know the names of child and man
That pass to school or work each day,
But I am walled by little cares
And do not greet them on their way.

O splendor of the unveiled night,
A radiance of the friendly eye,
Why have I neither will nor wit
To go and join you trooping by!
