PICTURE BOOKS by BURGES JOHNSON

First Line: ALL THE WORLD IS FRESHLY TINTED
Last Line: THEY DELIGHT THE CHILDREN'S EYES.
Subject(s): BOOKS; CHILDREN; READING; CHILDHOOD;

All the world is freshly tinted
For the eyes of each new child;
For his joy new sunbeams glinted,
Castle-clouds were reared and piled.
Nature, spreading arts unstinted,
Was rewarded when he smiled.

All the lore of all the ages,
Colors stolen from the skies,
Wrought by painters, poets, sages,
Have attained their richest prize
If on oft-read, thumb-worn pages
They delight the children's eyes.
