Subject(s): AGING; CHILDREN; PLAY; CHILDHOOD;

What's the use o' growin' up?
You can't paddle with yer toes
In a puddle—you can't @3yell@1
When yer feelin' extra well—
Why every feller knows
A grown-up can't let @3loose.@1
I don't @3want@1 to be no older—
What's the use?

What's the use o' growin' up?
When I'm big I don't suppose
Explorin' would be @3right@1
In a neighbor's field at night—
I won't @3like@1 to get my clo'se
All watermelon juice.
I don't want to be no older—
What's the use?

What's the use o' growin' up?
@3You@1 couldn't ride the cow,
An' the rabbits an' the pig
Don't like you 'cause yer big,
I'm @3comfortublest@1 now—
P'r'aps I @3am@1 a goose.
I don't want to be no older—
What's the use?

What's the use o' growin' up?
When yer growed, why every day
You just have to be @3one thing.
I'm@1 a pirate, er a king,
Er a cowboy—I can play
That I'm @3anything I choose.@1
I don't want to be no older—
What's the use?
