FICKLENESS by HARRY HIBBARD KEMP

First Line: I LOVED ... I LOST ... 'THE VERY WORLD'
Last Line: I STRAIGHTWAY LOVED AGAIN.
Subject(s): LOVE;

I LOVED ... I lost ... "The very world,"
Thought I, "must cease to be;
June, find no pleasure in her rose,
Since She no more loves me!"

But when I saw the world still glad
With sun and flower and rain,
That June had not forgot her rose—
I straightway loved again.
