ASSURANCE by JEROME KENNEDY

First Line: WE BREAK OUR FOOLISH, FRAGILE HEARTS
Last Line: AND IS THE BARREN BUSH LESS SURE?

We break our foolish, fragile hearts
To make the glory of one glad day endure.
Are the roses sad because the spring departs?
And is the barren bush less sure?
