MEXICAN DESERT by MARGARET LATHROP LAW

First Line: WHERE DESERT SAGE AND AGAVE ARE RIMMED
Last Line: THE SHALLOW WILL TREMBLE IN SOLITUDE.
Subject(s): DESERTS; FOOD & EATING; MEXICO;

Where desert sage and agave are rimmed
By vast horizon, purple hilled,
A paean to ancient gods is hymned
While, prayer to lesser power stilled
We crawl through vast unbounded space
And man is an insignificant fly
While verity stares from heaven's face.
Immensity lies in an indigo sky.
Where peaks are notching infinitude
The shallow will tremble in solitude.
